>ISTANBUL REstate 2009< at Lutfi Kirdar International Congress and Exhibition Centre:

52 Exhibitors from 11 countries in Rumeli Hall of Lutfi Kirdar International Congress and Exhibition Centre +++ More than 2,700 participants from 23 countries at debut show +++ International audience confirms the high significance of the fair in Europe, the Middle East, Russia and the CIS states +++ Keen interest in the Summit Sessions and Panel Discussions +++ Highly recognized by the participants

ISTANBUL (5 June 2009). – In Lutfi Kirdar International Congress and Exhibition Centre, the first edition of >ISTANBUL Restate<, the international real estate trade fair organized by Reed Exhibitions and the The Turkish Association of Real Estate Investment Companies GYODER, ended on Thursday (4 June 2009) evening. In the course of >ISTANBUL Restate< with a focus on the countries of Europe, Middle East, Russia, Turkish Republics, North Africa, the Mediterranean Region and Turkey, exactly 52 exhibitors from 11 countries presented their projects and services in Rumeli Hall from the 2nd to the 4th of June. A total of 2,700 participants from 23 countries were registered during the three days of the event. These results cause Matthias Limbeck (DI), New Business CEO for fair organizer Reed Exhibitions in Austria, to rate the fair as “quite satisfactory” when considering the global financial and economic crisis and the severely affected real estate industry.

Mixture of business, contact, know-how and networking

“The idea of launching a property and investment trade fair in Istanbul based on the >Real Vienna< show has worked out as Istanbul is for Central Asia and the Near and Middle East, what Vienna is for the CEE region”, concludes Matthias Limbeck. Similar to >Real Vienna<, the newly launched >ISTANBUL Restate< is based on a mixture of business, contact, know-how and networking, resulting in an international congress trade fair for commercial and industrial real estate, and for property and project investment. The unique concept also includes the Turkish Real Estate Summit, which has already been staged by GYODER since 2000, as well as an accompanying programme of specialist events (speeches, discussions, workshops) organised by Dr. Georg Wailand, publisher of the Austrian business magazine known as “GEWINN”. Turgay Tanes, Chairman of GYODER, states that even with its first edition, “ISTANBUL REstate plays a very important role in the real estate sector, promising a future and offering investment opportunities.”

Keen Interest in Summit Sessions and Panel Discussions

“It has been seen that the fair visitors showed keen interest in the events of the summit and panel programme”, emphasizes Thomas Jungreithmair, fair manager of >Real Vienna< and responsible for international sales at >ISTANBUL Restate<. Hosting the Real Estate Summit and the panel discussions parallel to fair, there was a total of 4 Summit sessions and 21 panel discussions in which almost 100 experts on the real estate sector from many leading institutions, universities, national or international companies and associations made their speeches.

Highly recognized by the participants

Bringing together 2,700 corporate participants from Europe, Middle East, Russia, North Africa, the Mediterranean Region and Turkey as well as a great number of national and international investors, the world’s most prestigious real estate companies and the metropolitan municipalities of Istanbul, Ankara, Vienna and Tbilisi under the same roof, >ISTANBUL REstate< has found the approval of the participants in terms of serving as a platform to discuss investment opportunities and form new collaborations.

Exhibitor Voices: “Substantial contact point for real estate industry”

“It was for the first time for Tbilisi City to be presented in Istanbul with Ajara Autonomus Republic and Georgian Developers Representatives”, says Henri Dolidze, Head of Investor Service and City Marketing Department, Tbilisi City Hall, and sums up his experience: “The conference and fair gave us the opportunity to introduce our region and promote both the ongoing and upcoming projects, which have earned high interest from Turkish Companies as well. We do believe that ISTANBUL REstate fair will strongly support the process of Turkish-Georgian business cooperation.”

Iþýk Gökkaya, Chairman of Y&Y, says: “This fair has become a substantial contact point for the real estate industry in terms of providing many opportunities and know-how exchange in addition to meeting with high profile visitors. “It seems that ISTANBUL REstate will achieve to become the meeting point of regional real estate industry.”

Michael Widmann, Managing Director of PKF hotel experts, was “the first registered exhibitor of >ISTANBUL Restate< in October 2008“, as he mentions. “Due to the economic crisis, we feared that we might be the only one. So we were pleasantly surprised to have a full hall of exhibitors. But not only was the hall full, the stands and the other exhibitors were also of excellent quality. As a result of the accompanying conference programme, there was a lot of activity. We will come back next year – with a larger stand.”

Second edition of >ISTANBUL REstate< in June 2010

The next edition of >ISTANBUL REstate< will take place from June 15 to 17, 2010. “We are hoping to make the fair grow as a good opportunity for talks about future cooperations and as a functioning contact platform in EMEA-region”, says Reed Exhibitions manager Matthias Limbeck.
